Scottish Provincial Ladle, Montrose c1820
DescriptionA Scottish Provincial Silver Toddy Ladle made in Montrose by William Mill and dating from c1820.
There is an engraved initial "D" on the handle.
The ladle is hallmarked with the maker's initials "WM" for William Mill (struck three times) and the "rose" town mark for Montrose (struck twice).
William Mill is recorded as working in Montrose c1815 - 1820.
