DescriptionA good, matched Set of Six, Fiddle & Thread Pattern, early Victorian English Silver Dessert Forks made in London and dating from c1860. They are from the same canteen of cutlery with five having the armorial crest, the sixth fork has no crest and is slightly smaller, not an exact match to the rest (see photo). Three of the forks are hallmarked with the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark, the Monarch's Head (Queen Victoria) duty mark, the maker's mark "GA" for Chawner & Co (George William Adams), the Leopard's Head london town mark and the date letter "g" for 1862/63. The other two hallmarked with the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark, the Monarch's Head (Queen Victoria) duty mark, the maker's mark "CB" for Charles Boyton , the Leopard's Head london town mark and the date letter "k" for 1865/66. The sixth fork is also hallmarked with the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark, the Monarch's Head (Queen Victoria) duty mark, the maker's mark "GA" for Chawner & Co (George William Adams), the Leopard's Head london town mark and the date letter "O" for 1849/50.   DimensionsThey measure approximately 7" inches in length (5 are 180mm, the sixth slightly shorter at 175mm).
