Massive Scottish Silver Quaich Hamilton & Inches
DescriptionA very good quality, very large, Sterling Silver Scottish Quaich made by Hamilton & Inches of Edinburgh. The famous Edinburgh Jewellers & Silversmiths were founded in 1866 and have held the Royal Warrant as silversmiths to Her Majesty the Queen for over 120 years. Hamilton & Inches are still trading from their premises at 87 George Street, Edinburgh.
A very nice, large, plain silver Quaich with no engravings nor personal inscriptions, it would be ideal for a trophy or presentation piece.
The Quaich was assayed in Edinburgh, it is hallmarked with the maker's mark "H&I" for Hamilton & Inches, the Scottish thistle Sterling Silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter X for 1928/29.
The Quaich measures 7" inches (180mm) in diameter (across the bowl) and measures just under 11" inches (275mm) in width across the lugs. The weight is 523g/18.5oz.
It is in excellent condition.
