Scottish Silver Quaich, H&I Edinburgh c1922
DescriptionA very good quality, Sterling Silver Scottish Quaich made by Hamilton & Inches of Edinburgh. The famous Edinburgh Jewellers & Silversmiths were founded in 1866 and have held the Royal Warrant as silversmiths to Her Majesty the Queen for over 120 years. Hamilton & Inches are still trading from their premises at 87 George Street, Edinburgh.
A very nice, plain silver Quaich with no engravings nor personal inscriptions.
The Quaich was assayed in Edinburgh, it is hallmarked with the maker's mark "H&I" for Hamilton & Inches, the Scottish thistle Sterling Silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter "R" for 1922/23.
The Quaich measures 4 3/4" inches (120mm) in diameter (across the bowl) and measures just over 6 1/2" inches (165mm) in width across the lugs.
The weight is 172.7g/6.09oz/5.55ozt
It is in excellent condition.
