Scottish Silver Snuff Box, Nasmyth Edinburgh c1833
DescriptionA rare, Antique, William IV, Scottish Silver Snuff Box made by James Nasmyth of Edinburgh and dating from c1833. Scottish made snuff boxes are relatively rare and this is a nice example.
The inside of the base is hallmarked with the Monarch's Head duty mark, the Scottish thistle silver mark, the maker's mark JN for James Nasmyth, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter B for 1833/34. The inside of the lid similarly hallmarked.
The exterior of the box with lovely engine turned engraving to all sides and base. The lid with engine turned engraved edge border to a plain silver centre.
The box measures 80mm x 50mm x 17mm. The weight is 106.6g.
