English Silver Lidded Tankard, London c1764
DescriptionANTIQUE GEORGE III, ENGLISH STERLING SILVER LIDDED TANKARD c1764.
A very good Antique Georgian English Sterling Silver Lidded Tankard by Simeon Coley, London and dating from c1764.
The tankard is hallmarked with the maker's mark "SC" for Simeon Coley, the Lion Passant Sterling Silver Mark, the Leopard's Head Crowned London town mark and date letter "i" for 1764/65. Also hallmarked on the inside of the lid.
This is a very good example and in excellent condition. There is a slight indent to the base rim (see photo)
It measures 7" inches (180mm) in height. The base just over 5" inches (130mm) in diameter. The weight is 850g/30oz.
