George III, Scottish Silver Cream Jug, c1782
DescriptionA good George III, Scottish Sterling Silver Cream Jug made by Patrick Robertson in Edinburgh and dating from c1782.
The jug is hallmarked on the edge of the base with the maker's mark "PR" for Patrick Robertson, the Scottish thistle sterling silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter "C" for 1782/83.
The jug has engraved floral decoration and the front of the jug has the Wemyss family crest depicting a Swan under the motto "Je Pense" (I think) - see photos.
The jug measures 6" inches (155mm) in height. The weight is 201.3g/7.10oz/6.47ozt.
