Victorian English Silver Card Case c1850
DescriptionA very good quality, antique, early Victorian, English Silver Card Case made by Edward Smith, Birmingham and dating from c1850.
The case is hallmarked with the maker's mark "ES" for Edward Smith, the Monarch's Head duty mark (Queen Victoria), the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark, the Birmingham town mark and date letter "B" for 1850/51.
The case has attractive engraving to both sides, the centre engraved with the initial "B" for the Bateman family. The case still holds some of the original calling cards with the name "M Bateman, Thornville".
It is very good quality and in excellent condition.
It measures 100mm x 70mm x 10mm. The weight is 61.7g/2.17oz/1.99ozt
