George III, Scottish Silver Soup Ladle c1789
DescriptionA very good Georgian Scottish Silver Soup Ladle made by Robert Gray (Glasgow) and dating from 1789.
It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "RG", for Robert Gray, the Edinburgh "castle" town mark, the Scottish "thistle" silver mark, the date letter "J" for 1789/90 and the Monarch's Head duty mark.
There is the initial "B" on the terminal.
It measures approximately 14" inches (350mm) in length. The deep circular bowl 3 3/4" inches (95mm) in diameter.
The weight is 169.1g/5.96oz/5.43ozt.
In excellent condition.
