Silver Scottish Glasgow Quaich, 17th Century Style
DescriptionA very good quality, large, Sterling Silver Scottish Quaich made by George Edward & Sons, Glasgow.
This Quaich was manufactured by Edward & Sons as a replica of a 17th century Glasgow Quaich. It has engraved decoration in the 17th century manner.
The Quaich was assayed in London, it is hallmarked with the maker's mark "GE/AE" for George Edward & Sons (George Edward & Arthur Edward, Glasgow), the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "h" for 1923/24.
Also stamped on the base with the maker's name "Edward & Sons, Glasgow". Also stamped on the base "Replica of Glasgow Quaich 1665-1670".
The Quaich measures 7 1/4" inches (185mm) in diameter (across the bowl) and measures 11 3/4" inches (300mm) in width across the lugs.
It stands 3" inches (75mm) in height.
The weight is 510g/18.0oz
It is in excellent condition with very minimal light scratches in the bowl and a slight indent to the foot of the base rim.
