A large and heavy sterling silver medal from the Glasgow School of Architecture, Session 1954-55, the Glasgow Corporation Medal for Civic Design awarded to Elizabeth Inglis Sayers. Miss Elizabeth Inglis Sayers was born on 29 January 1933, the daughter of Douglas Hollingsworth Sayers, solicitor, and his wife Isabella Macfarlane Inglis. She was elected a student member of the RIBA in 1953. She was living in Clarkston in Glasgow about this time and studied at the School of Art there. She was elected ARIBA in 1957. The medal is hallmarked with the maker's mark "E&S" for Edward & Sons of Buchanan Street, Glasgow, the Birmingham anchor town mark, the lion passant sterling silver mark and date letter e for 1954/55. The medal measures 108mm x 48mm and the weight is 180.2g.

A GOOD SCOTTISH 9CT SOLID GOLD MEDAL QUEENS PARK HIGH SCHOOL GLASGOW c1925. A nice Scottish 9CT Gold Medal. This medal was presented to "Dr. James Knight by His Pupils, 22nd June 1925". The 9 carat gold medal is hallmarked with the maker's mark "W.J.D" for William James Dingley (Warstone Lane, Birmingham), alongside "9" and ".375" for 9 carat gold, the Birmingham "anchor" town mark and date letter "z" for 1924/25. It measures 40mm x 27mm. The weight is 14.5g.

World War I, Medal Trio, Royal Navy
A GOOD, ENGLISH HALLMARKED, BRITANNIA SILVER COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL, "MAN FIRST SETS FOOT ON THE MOON, JULY 1969". A very good quality and rare, Limited Edition, English Britannia silver hallmarked commemorative medal, produced in order to commemorate the day that man first set foot on the moon, 21 July 1969. Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that first landed a man on the moon. The accompanying Certificate of Authentication (COA) has details of the three crew members Neil Armstrong, Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin and Michael Collins. This medal was struck in English Britannia silver and hallmarked at the London Assay Office. Britannia silver (95.84%) is a higher grade of silver than sterling silver (92.5%). The medal is hallmarked on the edge with the maker's mark "G&CoLd", the Lion's Head Erased and Britannia marks for Britannia grade silver and the date letter "O" for 1969/70. Also on the edge of the medal is stamped the individual medal number (328) to match the accompanying certificate. The medal depicting a man stepping down from the landing craft to set foot on the moon, surrounded by "Man first sets foot on the moon, July 1969". The reverse depicting the moon and the US Eagle with "United States of America". The medal measures approximately 58mm in diameter and the weight is approximately 79.4g. The medal is contained in the originally supplied fitted case and is complete with the original Certificate of Authentication.

Silver Medal, Man sets foot on moon, July 1969
A GOOD SET OF FOUR, STERLING SILVER COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS, THE RAILWAYS ACT 1921, A very good quality, Limited Edition, set of four commemorative sterling silver medals, produced by Overton Farrell & Sons (Medallists) Ltd., in order to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of The Royal Assent being given to the Railways Act 1921. These medals were struck in sterling silver, each medal having full English sterling silver hallmarks on the edge the maker's mark "WJD" for William James Dingley (of Warstone Lane, Birmingham), the Lion passant sterling silver mark, the "anchor" Birmingham town mark and date letter "W" for 1971/72. Also on the edge of the medal is stamped the set number (S564) to match the accompanying certificate. Each medal representing a different rail company The London and North Eastern Railway Company (LNER), London Midland & Scottish Railway Company (LMS), Great Western Railway Company (GWR) and The Southern Railway Company. The reverse depicting a famous locomotive. Each medal measures approximately 45mm in diameter and the weight is approximately 32.0g. The set is contained in the originally supplied fitted case from Overton Farrell & Sons (Medallists) Ltd. It is complete with the original certificate of ownership confirming the silver set is number S564 and is one of a limited edition of 1,000 sets.

Set of Sterling Silver Medals, Railways Act 1921
A GOOD, RARE SCOTTISH MEDAL, UNIVERSITAS SANCTI ANDREE, UNIVERSITY OF ST ANDREWS c1931, A very good and rare, Scottish Bronze Medal. This medal was awarded by St Andrews University 1931-32. The bronze medallion featuring the words "UNIVERSITAS SANCTI ANDREE / MCCCCXI" around the circumference, enclosing a design of the interior of a medieval hall. The reverse features a plain outer circumference and an inner wreath. The outer band is engraved "GENERAL HEBREW" and "FREDERICK KENNEDY, M.A." and the inner wreath "1931-32". The medal is complete with the original issue jeweller's box from Alexander Kirkwood & Son, Medalists, 9 St James Square, Edinburgh. Estd 1826. This firm still in existence today. It measures 53mm in diameter.

The sterling silver medal has full English hallmarks the makers mark "V&S" for Vaughton & Sons, the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Birmingham town mark and date letter "C" for 1927/28. It measures 65mm in height and 50mm in width and is suspended from a blue ribbon.

9CT Gold Scottish Dux Medal Madras College St Andrews
A RARE, ANTIQUE VICTORIAN, SCOTTISH SILVER MEDAL, ROYAL ABERDEEN GOLF CLUB, MONTHLY HANDICAP MEDAL, An extremely rare and historically important, very good quality Scottish Provincial Silver Medal, Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, Monthly Handicap Medal. This medal was awarded to M.M. Duncan, the overall winner of the Monthly Handicap competition for the 1904-05 season. The silver medal has the names of the Monthly Handicap competition winners for each month from October 1904 to September 1905 and under the list engraved "Finally won by M.M. Duncan". It is also hallmarked with the maker's mark "W.G.J." for William George Jamieson alongside "ABD" the town mark for Aberdeen. The central disc with the winner's names also hallmarked by Vaughton & Sons, Birmingham. This large silver medal measures 2 1/4" inches (58mm) in diameter and is complete with the original ribbon with silver suspender clasps "Royal Aberdeen Golf Club" and "Monthly Handicap Medal". Royal Aberdeen Golf Club is one of the oldest Golf Clubs in the world, it was founded in 1780 as The Society of Golfers at Aberdeen. It became the Aberdeen Golf Club in 1815. The club's "Royal" patronage was awarded by His Majesty Edward VII in 1903 and from then has been known as the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club. Mr M.M. Duncan was Honorary Secretary at the Aberdeen Golf Club and was instrumental in the establishment of the Northern Counties Cup Competition. On the 12th September 1899 Mr M M Duncan, Honorary Secretary of Aberdeen Golf Club, wrote to all the golf clubs in the old Counties from Kincardine in the South to the Shetland Isles in the North, inviting them to take part in a golf competition on the Balgownie Links in the summer of 1900. The Aberdeen Club went on to suggest that the participating clubs contribute a sum of at least two guineas towards the purchase of a cup, and the clubs who contribute would then meet to decide on a course for the following year. Mr Duncan of Aberdeen Golf Club remained the Secretary to the Delegates for the next twenty one years, after which he was presented with a silver cigar box, in recognition of his service, bearing the inscription '"Presented by the Golf Clubs in the Northern Counties, comprising Aberdeen, Banff, Caithness, Inverness, Kincardine, Moray and Nairn, Orkney and Shetland, Ross and Cromarty, and Sutherland to M M Duncan, Esq, in token of their appreciation of his 22 years of secretaryship to the Delegates on the Northern Counties Cup competition and for his outstanding services to the game of golf in the North, 22nd July, 1921."
