George III, English Verge Pocket Watch

George III, English Verge Pocket Watch

DescriptionA good Georgian English Silver Verge Fusee Pocket Watch made by Robert Buston, London and dating from c 1818. The watch is hallmarked with the maker's mark "JM", the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the crowned leopard's head London town mark and the date letter "C" for 1818/19. Both cases are in good condition, but the small push piece is missing from the outer so it does not stay tightly closed, a minor imperfection as these watches are for the collector. The outer case has a couple of old watchmaker's papers from "WS Kelt, Dundee". The movement is signed by the maker "Robt. Buston, London" and has the serial number 2545. The balance cock is nicely engraved with the face of old father time. The dial is in excellent condition, it has the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes marked at 5 min intervals. The original bulls eye glass has surface scratches as can be expected in a watch over 190 years old !  DimensionsThe watch measures approximately 58mm in diameter  Date1818  ConditionIn good condition and working order
