Silver & Enamel Robert Burns Club Badge
DescriptionA rare Sterling Silver & Enamel Royal Mile Burns Club badge dating from c1930.
The badge with a central enamel portrait of the famous Scottish poet, Robert Burns. The blue enamel surround bearing the inscription "The Royal Mile Burns Club (1925).
The rear of the badge hallmarked with the maker's mark "JK", the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Birmingham town mark and date letter "F" for 1930/31
The Royal Mile in Edinburgh is the name given to a succession of streets leading from Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyrood House.
The Royal Mile Burns Club was instituted in 1925 and was limited to 50 members, all resident in the Edinburgh Old Town. The badge most likely worn by the Chairman.
It measures 71mm in height and 52mm in diameter.
