A good quality, very rare, large "Goliath" Eight Day, QUARTER REPEATER, Pocket Watch, originally retailed by the George David Rattray, Nethergate, Dundee. The white enamel dial with the hours in Roman numerals and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. Signed by the retailers "G D Rattray, Dundee" and also "8 Days" with "Swiss Made" at the bottom. The dial in excellent condition. The Swiss made movement in very good condition and working order. It is relatively rare to find a large "Goliath" pocket watch with a quarter repeater movement. Upon depressing the winding crown the gong strikes once for every hour followed by once for every quarter of an hour passed. The base metal case in excellent condition. It has the serial number 148478. The watch is in excellent overall condition and working order. This large watch measures 3 1/8" inches (80mm) in diameter, across the case (excl. winding stem/bow). It is complete with the original travel case/display stand.

18CT Gold Swiss Fob Pocket Watch, c1880
A very good quality, Gentleman's, Antique Silver Pocket Watch, in excellent condition and in working order. The company of Stauffer, Son & Co was founded in 1830 and had a factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. They had a subsidiary company Stauffer & Co (S&Co) in London that distributed watches to the British market. Stauffer & Co sourced watches and movements from different sources including the highly regarded International Watch Company (IWC). These watches were stamped with the "S&Co" mark below a crown and also stamped "Peerless". Given the very high quality movement in this watch it is probable that it was supplied by IWC. The good quality silver case is in excellent condition. It is stamped "0.935" for 0.935 grade silver (a slightly higher grade than sterling silver, which is 0.925) alongside Swiss control marks. It also has the case serial number 325622. The inner cuvette (dust cover) is similarly marked. It is also engraved "Examined by Goldsmiths Company, 112 Regent Street, London" - they would have originally retailed the watch. The very good quality, Swiss made, lever movement is in excellent condition and good working order. It is stem wound and pin set - the time being set by turning the winding crown whilst depressing the small pin located on the case side band at one o'clock. The movement is signed with the "S&Co" mark within an oval, also stamped "Peerless" below the serial number 290420 and "Swiss" for Swiss made. The white enamel dial is in good condition. It has the hours in gold Roman numerals and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. The watch measures approximately 49 mm in diameter (excuding stem and bow ring). The weight is 97.3g Overall a very nice, antique, Gentleman's Silver pocket watch, a nice one for your collection.

Fritz Piguet were a Geneva based Company who specialized in superbly adjusted watches and supplied ebauches to most of the major watchmakers during the middle of the 19th century, including Patek Philippe. The English sterling silver case is in excellent condition. It is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "IH" for John Hammon (Watch Case Maker, York Street, Coventry), the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Chester town mark and the date letter "R" for 1900/01. The case with decorative engraving, to the rear a central shield shaped cartouche surrounded by a gold garter belt. The case has the serial number 8127 to match the movement dust cover, proving all are original and have been together since new. The English Lever Fusee movement is in good working order.
