A very nice, Gentleman's antique, early Victorian, Scottish, 18CT Gold Pocket Watch made by Muirhead & Arthur, Argyle Street, Glasgow and dating from c1849. The case inner cuvette (dust cover) engraved with the original owner's name "William Boyd, Coatbridge, March 1849" The 18CT Gold case is hallmarked with the maker's mark, the "crown" above "18" for 18 carat gold, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "n" for 1848/49. The rear of the case has decorative engraving with a decorative rim and bezel. The gold dial has the hours in Roman numerals and decorative engraving to the centre, complete with a lovely pair of original hands. The movement is signed by the maker "Muirhead & Arthur, Argyle Street, Glasgow" and has the serial number 24429. It has a lovely engraved balance cock and diamond end stone. It is key wound and set with the key provided. The watch measures 53mm in diameter. The weight is 134.5g In excellent condition and working order

A very elegant, 18CT Gold Lady's MOVADO Wristwatch. The 18 carat gold watch complete with integral 18 carat gold bracelet strap. The watch with a nice oval shaped dial, in excellent condition. The dial signed by the maker "MOVADO" and also "Swiss". The high grade, manual wind, MOVADO movement in good condition and working order. The watch complete with an integral 18 carat gold bracelet. The total length is 161mm. The bracelet is 12mm wide at the watch case, gradually tapering to 10mm wide at the clasp. The watch case measures 28mm x 16mm. The total weight is 36.2g.

A very good quality, Gentleman's Antique 18CT Gold Pocket Watch, made by Rotherham & Sons and dating from c1902. The watch is in very good overall condition and in working order. The English made, heavy, 18CT gold case is in very good condition. It is hallmarked with maker's mark "JR" for Rotherham & Sons (John Rotherham), the "crown" and "18" for 18 carat gold, the Birmingham town mark and date letter "C" for 1902/03. The case is in very good overall condition. The English Lever movement is in working order. It is stem wound and pin set. The dial is in excellent condition, see photo. It has Roman numerals for the hours and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. The watch measures approximately 51mm in diameter (excuding stem and bow ring).

Antique 18CT Gold English Hunter Case Pocket Watch
A good quality timer made by Thomas Armstrong & Brother, Manchester. The centre seconds hand operated by a slide mechanism on the side of the case, re-set by depressing the button at the top. It measures 60mm in diameter and 25mm in height. It is complete with case. The case with scuff marks and the hinge slightly adrift, in need of some TLC. Thomas Armstrong & Brother, Manchester were important producers of scientific instruments. The company was originally founded in 1825 by Joseph Armstrong. Following his death in 1851 the company was taken over by Thomas Armstrong and was re-named Thomas Armstrong & Brother.

9CT Gold Half Hunter Pocket Watch owned by Mr George H Allan. An immaculate 9CT Gold Half Hunter Pocket Watch. The watch has a good quality Helvetia 15 Jewel Swiss made movement. The English made 9CT solid gold case by the Dennison Watch Case Company. It is hallmarked with "9" and ".375" for 9 carat gold, the Birmingham town mark, the maker's mark "ALD" for A L Dennison and date letter "S" for 1917/18. The front cover with the hours in Roman numerals in nice blue enamel. The white enamel dial with the maker's name "Helvetia" and also "Swiss Made", complimented by a lovely set of original blue steel hands. The good quality movement signed "Helvetia" and "Swiss made, 15 Jewels" It measures 49mm in diameter. The weight is 98.2g. PROVENANCE: The watch is a "50 Year" presentation Pocket Watch. The inner cuvette (dustcover) engraved : "Presented by Colvilles Limited to Mr George H Allan on completion of Fifty Years Service, May 1948". The rear cover has the former owner's initials engraved "GHA". The watch was presented to Mr George H Allan, retiring Office Manager at Clydebridge Steel Works, by Sir John Craig, Chairman of Colvilles at a function on Friday 28th May 1948. I have a photograph of an article relating to this, with a picture of Mr Allan being presented with the watch. The article will be sent to the buyer. Colvilles Limited were a Scottish Steel and Iron Works Company founded by David Colville. In 1860, as joint-partner in the firm of Colville & Gray, he established the Clifton Iron Works at Coatbridge. Ten years later when his initial partnership had come to an end David Colville established the Dalzel Works at Motherwell.

9CT Gold Half Hunter Watch, Scottish Provenance
A lovely, very good quality, 18CT Gold Half Hunter Fob Pocket Watch in immaculate condition and working order. The 18CT solid gold case stamped "K18" for 18 carat gold alongside the serial number 61786 and Swiss control marks. The inner cuvette is not gold. The case has lovely decorative engraving and a central shield shaped cartouche to the rear that has engraved initials. The front of the case has the hours in Roman numerals in blue enamel against a pink enamel background. There is some slight loss to the edge of the enamel as can be seen in the photo, a very minor imperfection. The inner cuvette engraved "John Bennett, 65 & 64 Cheapside, London - maker to the Royal Observatory" The very good quality, Swiss made movement is in good condition and working order. The white enamel dial in excellent condition, with the hours in Roman numerals. Overall a lovely example in excellent condition and working order. The watch measures 38mm across the case. The weight is 51.0g

The case also has the serial number 11158 to match the movement and dial, proving all are original and have been together since new. The very good English 18 carat solid gold case is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "JR" for Rotherham & Sons (John Rotherham), watch & watch case manufacturers, Spon Street, Coventry, the "crown and "18" for 18 carat gold, the "anchor" town mark for Birmingham and date letter "i" for 1908/09. The case has the hours in blue enamel Roman numerals on the front cover. The rear of the case has the original owner's initials engraved and the inner cuvette has a presentation inscription. The white enamel dial is in excellent condition. It has the hours in roman numerals and a nice pair of original blued steel half hunter type hands. The three quarter plate English Lever movement is in good condition and working order. It is stem wound and pin set. The movement engraved with the serial number 263061 and signed by the maker "Alex Philip, Edinburgh". The watch measures 36mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 49.8g. An fine example of an Antique Pocket Watch in excellent condition and working order. PROVENANCE: This watch has an interesting history. The presentation inscription reads "To Nurse Innes from Marcus Dods, 1907 - 1909." Dr Marcus Dods (1834 - 1909) was the late Principal of New College, Edinburgh. He was a minister of Renfield Free Church, Glasgow (1864 - 1889). In August 1889 he took up residence at 23 Great King Street, Edinburgh where he lived for the rest of his life. His letters are published, the book the "Later Letters of Marcus Dods" contains a letter to his sister Andrea, April 1908 where he makes reference "I have still the delightful Nurse Innes". Nurse Innes obviously gifted this watch as a thank you for nursing Dods until his death on 26 April 1909.

A very good Antique, Swiss made, Silver Centre Seconds Chronograph Pocket Watch in very good condition and in working order. This watch is from a collection that has been in storage for some time, therefore would benefit from a clean and service, as recommended for all antique watches. The plain silver case is marked with the ".935" mark for silver - a slightly higher grade than sterling silver (0.925) alongside Swiss control marks. The case also has the serial number 166464. The case is in very good condition. The white enamel dial is in excellent condition. It has the hours in Roman numerals and an outer chapter marked from 5 - 60. There is a sub-seconds dial and six o'clock and a minute counter at twelve, marked from 10 to 60. The Swiss made movement in good condition and working order, although would benefit from a service as previously stated. It is signed "SWISS". The watch measures 51mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 119.5g. A good example of a Centre Seconds Chronograph Pocket Watch, a nice addition to any collection.
