A United States Military (US Army and Navy), World War II, Military Chronograph Hamilton Pocket Watch dating from c1943. The high grade, AN-5742-1specification watch was use by both the US Army and US Navy. The watch is powered by a high grade, complicated, 19 Jewel Hamilton “model 23” chronograph movement. It is signed “Hamilton, Model 23, 19 Jewels” and also “adj to temp & 3 positions”. The black military style dial is signed “Hamilton”. It is in excellent condition and is complete with the original hands. There is a sub seconds dial at six o’clock and a 30 minute register at twelve o’clock. The case is signed by the maker on the inside “Keystone base metal”. The rear of the case is engraved with the maker’s name “Hamilton Watch Co” below the military specification. The case is in excellent condition. This watch has been stored in a collection for a number of years, therefore being sold as in need of service. The watch runs very well, although can sometimes stop and need a gentle shake to restart. Also the centre seconds chronograph action in need of some attention it starts/stops and runs well but the re-set function to return the hand to twelve o’clock position does not always work. I have had this watch running on test and it ran for just short of 35 hours from 0730 Fri to 18.20 Saturday, keeping good time during this period. However, this is a very good example of a rare military chronograph, in very good overall condition, a great addition to any collection.

It measures 48mm diameter
