A superb Antique, George III, Scottish Sterling Silver Gravy (Basting or Stuffing) Spoon made in Edinburgh and dating from c1811. It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "AH" for Alexander Henderson, the Scottish thistle sterling silver mark, the Monarch's Head duty mark, the "castle" town mark for Edinburgh and date letter "f" for 1811/12. The terminal engraved with the clan crest and motto of Clan Macdonald of Clanranald. The crest is a castle with three towers, and an armoured hand with sword issuing from the centre. The motto, "My hope is constant in thee", the words spoken by Robert the Bruce to Angus Og prior to the Battle of Bannockburn, that became the motto of Clanranald. The spoon measures over 12" inches (310mm) in length. The weight is 104.6g. It is in excellent condition. A lovely Scottish silver gravy spoon, with an interesting crest and motto, it would be an excellent addition to any collection.

Scottish Silver Gravy Spoon, Clan Macdonald
A very nice and rare, Scottish Provincial Silver Gravy (Basting or Stuffing) Spoon by John Heron of Greenock and dating from c1810. John Heron is recorded as working in Greenock c1800 - 1830. The spoon has very nice, crisp hallmarks the maker's mark "JH"" for John Heron, the town marks for Greenock, the "anchor", "sailing ship", the letter "C" and the "oak tree". It measures approximately 11 3/4" inches (300mm) in length. The weight is 92.0g. It is in excellent condition, a lovely addition to any collection, or for use on a special occasion.

Pair Georgian Scottish Silver Gravy Spoons c1795
A pair of Traprain Law Scottish Silver Spoons by Brook & Son, Edinburgh. During excavations in 1919 an archaeological team discovered a hoard of Roman Silver at Traprain Law, near Edinburgh, believed to have been buried around the middle of the 5th Century AD. The hoard is on display at the National Museums of Scotland in Edinburgh. Brook & Son of Edinburgh were the silversmiths used to restore the haul and subsequently they made copies under license. The spoons are hallmarked with the maker's mark "B&S" for Brook & Son, Edinburgh, the Scottish thistle sterling silver mark, the castle Edinburgh town mark and date letter "P" for 1920/21. They measure 8 3/4" inches (220mm) in length. The combined weight (of both) is 59.7g/2.10oz/1.91ozt.

A good George III, Scottish Sterling Silver Soup Ladle, John Zeigler, Edinburgh c1809. The ladle hallmarked with the Monarch's Head duty mark, the maker's mark "Z" for John Zeigler, the Scottish "thistle" silver mark, the Edinburgh "castle" town mark and date letter "d" for 1809/10. There are engraved initials to the terminal - see photo. A very nice ladle in good condition. It measures 14 1/2" inches (370mm) in length. The weight is 207.3g/7.31oz/6.66ozt.

Georgian Scottish Silver Soup Ladle Edinburgh 1809
A good, antique, Scottish Silver mounted Ram's Horn Snuff Mull dating from c1827. The snuff mull is of conventional form, the hinged silver mounted lid with a central circular disc with engraved initials "From WD to PD, 1827". The body of the mull in good condition, with a lovely colour to the horn as can be seen. The silver mounts unmarked as is the norm, therefore selling as white metal.

A rare, Scottish Provincial Silver Teaspoon made in Arbroath by Andrew Davidson and dating from c1840. Andrew Davidson is recorded in Jackson's Silver as working in Arbroath c1835 to 1850. It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "AD" for Andrew Davidson, alongside his Arbroath marks. There are engraved initials on the handle (see photos). It measures 5 3/4" inches (145mm) in length. A good quality, vintage, Scottish Sterling Silver mounted Horn Skean Dhu made in Edinburgh and dating from c1976. The silver mount hallmarked with the maker's mark "T.E" for Thomas Kerr Ebutt, the Scottish Lion Rampant sterling silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter "B" for 1976. Also stamped "Made in Scotland". The Skean Dhu with a Horn hilt, silver mounts and a stainless steel blade. The total length is 8 1/4" inches (210mm).

A sterling Silver "Cat" brooch by Malcom Appleby. Born in 1946, Malcolm Appleby is considered to be one of the most original and highly skilled craftsmen working in Britain today. Known primarily as an engraver, he has been commissioned on many occasions by private companies, public bodies and individuals to produce wonderful pieces of silverware or jewellery. Recent public commissions include: the Royal Medal awarded annually by the Royal Society of Edinburgh an engraved silver teapot and gold beaded silver bowl for Perth Art Gallery and Museum (2000) and a Sculptural Tablepiece for Bute House, the residence of the First Minister for Scotland (1999).

It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "WPC" for Walter & Patrick Cunningham, Edinburgh, the Monarch's Head duty mark, the Scottish thistle silver mark, the "Castle" Edinburgh town mark and date letter "S" for 1798/99. The jug measures just under 4" inches (100mm) in height. The weight is 130.1g/4.58oz/4.18ozt. It is in reasonably good condition for it's age, there are some minor indents and evidence of an old repair to the back seam/top of handle join. Condition reflected in the price. Overall, a nice Scottish Silver Jug.

A very good quality, Rare, Antique, George II, Sterling Silver small Salver/Tray/Waiter made by Robert Low, Edinburgh and dating from c1743. It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "LOW" for Robert Low, Edinburgh, the Assay Master's mark "EL" for Edward Lothian, the "Castle" Edinburgh town mark and date letter "O" for 1743/44. The heavy gauge, circular tray is supported on three feet. There are engraved initials to the centre. The tray measures just under 6" inches (150mm) in diameter. The weight is 193.0g/6.80oz/6.20ozt. It is in very good condition with very minimal light scratches/wear through normal use commensurate with age.
