A lovely, very good quality, 18CT Gold Half Hunter Fob Pocket Watch in immaculate condition and working order. The 18CT solid gold case stamped "K18" for 18 carat gold alongside the serial number 61786 and Swiss control marks. The inner cuvette is not gold. The case has lovely decorative engraving and a central shield shaped cartouche to the rear that has engraved initials. The front of the case has the hours in Roman numerals in blue enamel against a pink enamel background. There is some slight loss to the edge of the enamel as can be seen in the photo, a very minor imperfection. The inner cuvette engraved "John Bennett, 65 & 64 Cheapside, London - maker to the Royal Observatory" The very good quality, Swiss made movement is in good condition and working order. The white enamel dial in excellent condition, with the hours in Roman numerals. Overall a lovely example in excellent condition and working order. The watch measures 38mm across the case. The weight is 51.0g

18CT Gold Half Hunter Pocket Watch, John Bennett
A fine and rare, antique, Victorian English, 18CT Gold Pocket Watch made by Litherland Davies & Co. of Liverpool and dating from c1854. Litherland Davies & Co, founded by Peter Litherland are important English makers, known for the manufacture of marine chronometers. The 18CT Gold case is hallmarked with the maker's mark "JCW", the "crown" and "18" for 18 carat gold, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter for 1854/55. The case also has the serial number 21452 to match the movement, proving both are original and have been together since new. The rear of the case has engine turned engraving and a shield shaped central cartouche. The white enamel dial has the hours in Roman numerals and is signed by the maker "Litherland Davies & Co, Liverpool". The jewelled duplex movement is signed by the maker "Litherland Davies & Co, Liverpool" alongside the serial number 21,452. It is key wound and set with the key provided. 18CT Gold Duplex Pocket Watch, Litherland Davies
A very nice, antique, William IV, English, 18CT Gold Pocket Watch made by Charles Merrill of Richmond and dating from c1836. The 18CT Gold case is hallmarked with the maker's mark "JS", the "crown" above "18" for 18 carat gold, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "A" for 1836/37. The rear of the case has crisp, engine turned engraving and a circular, central cartouch with engraved initials. The gold dial has the hours in Roman numerals and engine turned engraving to the to the outer chapter with decorative engraving to the centre. It is complete with a lovely pair of original hands. The movement is signed by the maker "Merrill, Richmond" and has the serial number 168. It is key wound and set with the key provided. Note the watch is wound and set from the front and the movement swings out to reveal the mechanism. The rear of the case does not open. It measures 44mm in diameter. The weight is 67.2g In excellent condition and working order

A very good quality, Antique 18CT Gold Half Hunter Cased Fob Pocket Watch made by Alex Philip, Edinburgh and dating from c1909. The very good English 18 carat solid gold case is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "JR" for Rotherham & Sons (John Rotherham), watch & watch case manufacturers, Spon Street, Coventry, the "crown and "18" for 18 carat gold, the "anchor" town mark for Birmingham and date letter "i" for 1908/09. The case has the hours in blue enamel Roman numerals on the front cover. The rear of the case has the original owner's initials engraved and the inner cuvette has a presentation inscription. The white enamel dial is in excellent condition. It has the hours in roman numerals and a nice pair of original blued steel half hunter type hands. The three quarter plate English Lever movement is in good condition and working order. It is stem wound and pin set. The movement engraved with the serial number 263061 and signed by the maker "Alex Philip, Edinburgh". The watch measures 36mm in diameter (across the case). The weight is 49.8g. An fine example of an Antique Pocket Watch in excellent condition and working order. PROVENANCE: This watch has an interesting history. The presentation inscription reads "To Nurse Innes from Marcus Dods, 1907 - 1909." Dr Marcus Dods (1834 - 1909) was the late Principal of New College, Edinburgh. He was a minister of Renfield Free Church, Glasgow (1864 - 1889). In August 1889 he took up residence at 23 Great King Street, Edinburgh where he lived for the rest of his life. His letters are published, the book the "Later Letters of Marcus Dods" contains a letter to his sister Andrea, April 1908 where he makes reference "I have still the delightful Nurse Innes". Nurse Innes obviously gifted this watch as a thank you for nursing Dods until his death on 26 April 1909.

The very good English 18 carat solid gold case is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "ART", the "crown and "18" for 18 carat gold, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "m" for 1907/08. It also has the serial number 19664 to match the movement, proving both are original and have been together since new. The case has the hours in blue enamel Roman numerals on the front cover. The white enamel dial is in excellent condition. It has the hours in roman numerals and a nice pair of original blued steel half hunter type hands. The three quarter plate English Lever movement is in good condition and working order. It is stem wound and pin set. A very good Antique, Swiss made, Silver Centre Seconds Chronograph Pocket Watch dating from c1895. It is in very good condition and in working order. This watch is from a collection that has been in storage for some time, therefore would benefit from a clean and service, as recommended for all antique watches. The plain silver case is marked with the case maker's mark "AG" and ".935" mark for silver - a slightly higher grade than sterling silver (0.925) alongside Swiss control marks. The case also has the serial number 105159. The case is in very good condition but does have some very small indents. The white enamel dial is in excellent condition. It has the hours in Roman numerals and an outer chapter marked from 25 - 300. There is a sub-seconds dial and six o'clock and a minute counter at twelve, marked from 2 - 30. The Swiss made movement in good condition and working order, although would benefit from a service as previously stated. It is signed "Racine Geneve" and also stamped "BREVET +359", a Swiss patent number that I believe was granted in 1889, relates to improvements in the construction of chronographs. It was granted to Alfred Lugrin in L'Orient de L'Orbe. Afred Lugrin founded the company L’Orient de L’orbe in 1884 which later became Fabrique d’horlogerie Lemania. The company specialised in complications such as minute repeating, chronographs and calendars. The company is still producing well respected movements which are supplied to some of the best watch companies in the world. The watch measures 51mm in diameter (across the case). A very good Antique, Swiss made, Sterling Silver Centre Seconds Chronograph Pocket Watch in immaculate condition and excellent working order, retailed by Thomas Russell & Son of Liverpool. The plain sterling silver case is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "WHS" for William Henry Sparrow (Spencer Street, Birmingham), the ".925" mark for sterling silver, the London town import mark and date letter "b" for 1917/18. The case also has the serial number 203103, the number repeated on the movement proving both are original and have been together since new. The centre sunk white enamel dial is in excellent condition. It has the hours in Roman numerals and signed "Thos. Russell & Son, Liverpool" and "Swiss made". The stop facility operated by a slide on the case side band (between 3 & 4 o'clock). The mechanism functioning correctly as it should. The Swiss made movement in good condition and working order. An antique Scottish Pair Cased Fusee Pocket Watch made by J Hutchison of Brechin. Both solid silver cases are in excellent condition. They are hallmarked with the case maker’s initials "TRA", for Thomas Richard Arnott, (watch case manufactures, Chester Street Coventry), the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Chester town mark and the date letter "B" for 1902/03. The case also has the serial number 55692 to match the movement, proving both are original and have been together since new. The Lever Fusee movement is in good working order. It is signed "J Hutchison, Brechin". It is key wound and set with the key provided. The movement has a nicely engraved balance cock and has the serial number 55692.
