A vintage, 17 Jewel, Purse Travel Watch by Mappin. The leather case with sliding mechanism, opening to reveal the watch face. The dial signed "Mappin" and also "17 Jewel, Incabloc". Incabloc is the trade name for a spring loaded shock absorbing mechanism that prevents the balance wheel pivots from damage. The underside of the case stamped with US Patent numbers. The case measures 55mm x 35mm when closed, extending to 80mm when open.

Vintage Purse Travel Watch by Mappin
A nice Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Pocket Watch, made by A & J Smith of Aberdeenand dating from c1894. The watch is in good overall condition and in working order. The English made, plain sterling silver case is in good condition. It is hallmarked with case maker's mark "JR" for Rotherham & Sons (John Rotherham), the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Birmingham town mark and date letter "U" for 1894/95. The case is in very good overall condition. The English Lever movement is in working order. It is stem wound and pin set. The movement is signed by the maker "A & J Smith, Aberdeen". The dial is in good condition, but does have a couple of faint hairlines - see photo. It has Roman numerals for the hours and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. The watch measures approximately 47mm in diameter (excuding stem and bow ring).

Scottish Silver Pocket Watch, A&J Smith Aberdeen
A nice Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Fusee Pocket Watch, made by James Ballantyne & Son of Glasgow, Scotland, dating from c1886. The watch is in good overall condition, however not in working order it. Therefore the watch is being sold as in need of service/repair. The English made sterling silver case is in good condition. It is hallmarked with case maker's mark "IH", the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the London town mark and date letter "L" for 1886/87. The rear of the case has a central cartouche that is free of initials. The engine turned engraving is worn near the edge. The case is in good overall condition, but there are a couple of minor indents to the rear. The English Lever Fusee movement is not in working order as stated above. It is key wound and set (key not provided). The movement is signed by the maker "James Ballantyne & Son, 52 Virginia St., Glasgow The dial is in good condition - see photo. It has Roman numerals for the hours and a sub seconds dial at six o'clock. It is signed by the makers "James Ballantyne & Son, Glasgow". The watch measures approximately 51mm in diameter (excuding stem and bow ring).

A very nice, antique, Victorian English Gentleman's Pocket Watch dating from c1875. This watch has been in storage for some time and is NOT currently in working order, therefore being sold as in need of service/repair. The English silver case has crisp engine turned engraving to the rear cover, with a central cartouche that is free of engraved initials. The case is hallmarked with the case maker's mark "EL", the Lion passant sterling silver mark, the Chester town mark and date letter "m" for 1875/76. The English Lever fuse movement is complete with dust cover. It has a nicely engraved balance cock with diamond end stone. The watch is key wound and set (it does not come with a key). The silver dial has engine turned engraving to the outer chapter and decorative floral engraving to the centre. It has the hours in gold Roman numerals. The case with very nice, decorative floral engraving to the rear and a small oval cartouche with a village scene. The white enamel dial is in reasonably condition, but it does have some hairlines as can be seen. A very good, rare, Gentleman's 14CT Solid Gold Cased Pocket Watch made by the very highly regarded and sought after IWC, the International Watch Company, Schaffhausen. This watch is an excellent example, in superb condition and very good working order. The 14 carat solid gold hunter case is in excellent condition, plain gold with no engravings or other forms of personalisation. It is stamped inside the rear cover with "14K/0.585/56" alongside Swiss control marks for 14 carat solid gold. It also bears the IWC trade mark and serial number. The inner cuvette (inner dust cover) not gold. The cuvette also engraved with the maker's name "International Watch Co., Schaffhausen".
