A very good quality Antique, Victorian, English Sterling Silver Tray, Salver or Waiter made by Z Barraclough & Sons and dating from c1900. The tray is raised on three ball and claw feet. It has a lovely beaded edge and a shield shaped cartouche to the centre that is free of engraved initials. The tray is hallmarked on the underside with the maker's mark "JHB/HB" for Z Barraclough & Sons (James Henry & Herbert Barraclough), the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Sheffield "crown" town mark and date letter "h" for 1900/01. Also stamped 4547/G2878.

The tray measures 8" inches (205mm) in diameter. The weight is 387.7g/13.67oz/12.46ozt

Good Victorian English Silver Tray c1900
A very nice, novelty, Scottish Silver Beaker made by the well renowned firm of Hamilton & Inches in Edinburgh. The beaker made to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. The side of the beaker engraved with the slogan "Here's a health unto Her Majesty" and also "ERII" in the middle of the date "1953". The beaker is hallmarked with the maker's mark "H&I" for Hamilton & Inches, the Scottish "thistle" sterling silver mark, the Edinburgh "castle" town mark and date letter "W" for 1952/53 alongside the Monarch's Head Coronation mark (an optional mark for that year). The beaker is in very good condition. It measures 3 1/2" inches (90mm) in height, 2 1/2" inches (65mm) diameter at the base and 3" inches (80mm) diameter at the top. The weight is 148.5g/5.24oz/4.77ozt

Scottish Silver Beaker, Edinburgh, QEII Coronation
A RARE ANTIQUE SCOTTISH PROVINCIAL SILVER & HORN QUAICH "SGUAB AS 'I". A very good Scottish Provincial Horn & Silver Quaich, unmarked but most likely made by William Dunningham & Co. of Aberdeen. This type of Quaich is very typical of the type of item they manufactured. The base of the Quaich with a silver disc that is engraved with the Gaelic motto "Sguab As 'I". The lugs also have applied silver discs, one engraved with a thistle, the other with a Celtic cross. It measures 68mm in diameter and 142mm in length across the lugs. The height is 23mm In excellent condition.

Antique Scottish Provincial Silver & Horn Quaich
A very good quality, Antique, George III, Sterling Silver Tray made by Walter & Patrick Cunningham in Edinburgh and dating from c1818. It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "W&PC" for Walter & Patrick Cunningham, Edinburgh, the "Castle" Edinburgh town mark and date letter "m" for 1818/19. The heavy gauge, circular tray is supported on three ancathus bracket feet and has a cast grape scroll and flower rim, with engraved flower decoration to the border. The tray measures 12" inches (305mm) in diameter. The weight is 1034g/36.5oz/33ozt It is in very good condition with very minimal light scratches/wear through normal use commensurate with age.

George III, Scottish Silver Salver/Tray, Edinburgh
A good George V, English Sterling Silver Trophy Cup made Charles Boyton & Son Ltd of London and dating from c1924. It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "CB&S" for Charles Boyton & Son Ltd, the Lion Passant Silver mark, the Leopard's Head London town mark, the date letter "h" for 1923/24. The goblet has an engraved inscription of Scottish, Royal Deeside interest to the front "THE KING'S CUP, Crathie & Braemar Agricultural Association, Ploughing, won by Alexander Forbes 23rd Feb 1924." Crathie and Braemar are located in Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland near the Queens Scottish residence Balmoral Castle. Balmoral Castle was purchased by Prince Albert for Queen Victoria in 1852 and has been a popular retreat for the Royal family ever since. It is located between Braemar and Ballater, the Royal family regularly attending events like the famous Braemar Gathering and Ballater Highland Games. During their visits to Balmoral the Royal family attend Crathie Kirk (church). The goblet measures just under 9" inches (225mm) in height and 4" inches (105mm) in diameter at the top. Good Scottish Silver Soup Ladle, Edinburgh c1818
A very nice Antique, Edwardian English Silver Presentation Jewellery Box made by E S Barnsley & Co., Frederick Street, Birmingham and dating from c1909/10. The box retailed by James Hardy & Co., Ltd., Aberdeen. The inside lip is hallmarked with the maker's mark "E.S.B" for E S Barnsley & Co (Edward Souter Barnsley), the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark and date letter "k" for 1909/10. The base stamped with the retailer's mark "James Hardy & Co., Ltd., Silversmiths, Aberdeen". The box bears a slightly later presentation inscription "Presented with Sovereigns Rev. M T Sorley BD on the occasion of his semi-jubilee by The Congregation of Belhelvie Parish Church and Friends, April 1913." The parish of Belhevie is located in Aberdeenshire in the north-east of Scotland, approximately 8 miles north of Aberdeen. The Rev. Malcolm Tower Sorley was born at Alford, Aberdeenshire in 1862. He was educated in Aberdeen, attending Aberdeen University. He was employed at Belhelvie North Kirk from 1888 until his death in 1933. The box was presented to mark 25 years service (1888-1913).

Silver Jewellery Box, Scottish Belhelvie Church
A Set of Four Traprain Law Scottish Silver Goblets by Brook & Son, Edinburgh. During excavations in 1919 an archaeological team discovered a hoard of Roman Silver at Traprain Law, near Edinburgh, believed to have been buried around the middle of the 5th Century AD. The hoard is on display at the National Museums of Scotland in Edinburgh. The picture of the hoard on their website shows goblets of a similar design to these. Brook & Son of Edinburgh were the silversmiths used to restore the haul and subsequently they made copies under license. They are hallmarked on the underside of the base with the maker's name "Brook & Son, Edinburgh", the Scottish thistle sterling silver mark, the castle Edinburgh town mark and date letter "Z" for 1930/31. They have an engraved crest with the Latin motto "Delectat et Ornat". They measure 2 1/2" inches (63mm) in height. The base 2" inches (51mm) in diameter, the top 1 3/4" inches (45mm) in diameter. The total weight is 234.6g/8.27oz/7.54ozt

A vintage Scottish Silver "Sword" Letter Opener made by Hamilton & Inches of Edinburgh and dating from c1964/65. The solid silver blade hallmarked with the maker's mark "H&I" for Hamilton & Inches, the Scottish thistle sterling silver mark, the castle Edinburgh town mark and date letter for 1964/65. It is in very good overall condition, but there is a thin split to the handle (see photo).
