A very good quality Scottish Sterling Silver Christening Set made by the highly regarded firm of Hamilton & Inches, Edinburgh. The set comprising of a good quality silver bowl in the form of a Scottish "Luggie" and a rat-tailed silver dessert spoon. A "Luggie" was an old Scottish milking pail typically made form oak staves and tied by wicker surrounds. This pail with two lugs (ears) to serve as handles. Both items are hallmarked with the maker's mark "H&I" for Hamilton & Inches, the Scottish "thistle" sterling silver mark, the Edinburgh "castle" town mark and date letter. The bowl "T" for 1924/25, the spoon "S" for 1923/24. The silver luggie has the name of the original owner nicely engraved "Heather Margaret Dawson". The spoon with her initials engraved "HMD". The bowl measures 2 1/2" inches (65mm) in height and 3 3/4" inches (95mm) diameter at the top. The spoon 6 1/4" (160mm) in length. The combined weight is 262.6g/9.26oz/8.44ozt. They are in excellent condition. A lovely, unusual item for the collector of Scottish Silver. The are complete with the original fitted presentation case from Hamilton & Inches. The case in need of some attention, it is of reasonably good appearance but the corners are split at the joints, therefore in need of some restoration if desired.

Scottish Silver "Luggie", Hamilton & Inches c1924
A good, antique Victorian Scottish Provincial Horn & Shell Snuff Box. The lid of the box wit a silver plaque that is engraved with the former owners name "W Farquhar, Aberdeen, 27.4.96" (27 April 1896). The plaque most probably silver, but unmarked, therefore selling as white metal. The box is in very good condition but does have some minor blemishes, there is a chip to one of the bottom corners and some slight hairline cracks to the lid just under the plaque. These minor imperfections aside, this is a really nice box. The hinge is good and the lid a very tight fit. It is complete with a snuff spoon. The box measures 87mm x 50mm x 22mm.

Scottish Provincial Horn Snuff Box Silver Aberdeen
A good Scottish Silver & Enamel Agricultural Medal. This Highland & Agricultural Society of Scotland Medal for Ploughing was presented to David Braid in 1931. It is hallmarked on the reverse with the maker's mark "K&S" for Alexander Kirkwood & Son, the Scottish "thistle" silver mark, the Edinburgh castle town mark and date letter "Z" for 1930/31. It is complete with the original fitted presentation case/box from the maker Alexander Kirkwood & Son, Medalists, 9 St James Square Edinburgh. The firm of Alexander Kirkwood & Son was established in 1826 and still trade today from their premises at 13 Albany Street, Edinburgh. The medal is accompanied by a printed card from the St Andrews and District Ploughing Association. A hand written not on the reverse stating "Highland & Agricultural Society Medal to be presented at final meeting in Blue Bell Hotel". It measures 40mm in height, the circular shape 30mm diameter. The weight is 18.0g. In excellent condition.

Scottish Silver Farming Ploughing Medal c1931
A very good quality, Antique, George III, Sterling Silver Tray made by Alexander Gardner, Edinburgh and dating from c1789. It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "AG" for Alexander Gardner, Edinburgh, the Monarch's Head duty mark, the Scottish "thistle" sterling silver mark, the "Castle" Edinburgh town mark and date letter "J" for 1789/90. The heavy gauge, circular tray is supported on three bracket feet and has a plain raised rim. The tray measures 10" inches (250mm) in diameter. The weight is 561g/19.8oz/18ozt. It is in very good condition with very minimal light scratches/wear through normal use commensurate with age.

George III, Scottish Silver 10" Tray c1789
A very nice set of Antique, early Victorian, Scottish King's Pattern, Sterling Silver Cutlery made by Andrew Wilkie, Edinburgh. The set comprising of four Silver Tablespoons, four Table or Dinner Forks and four Dessert Forks. They are all engraved with a very nice armorial family crest consisting of the Latin inscription "OPORTET VIVERE" above a fox. The motto means (roughly translated) "It behoves one to live". This motto comes from the Coat of Arms of the Todd Family. The name Todd is derived from the Northern Middle England word "Tod(de)"which meant fox. The cutlery is of Scottish King's Pattern, Single Struck. They are hallmarked with the maker's mark "AW" for Andrew Wilkie, the Scottish "thistle" sterling silver mark, the Monarch's Head duty mark, the Edinburgh "castle" town mark and date letter. All the forks date letter "E" 1836/37. The spoons have two with date letter "F" for 1837/38 and two with "V" for 1827/28. The table spoons measure 9" inches (230mm) in length. The total weight is 272.5g/9.61oz/8.76ozt. The table forks measure 8" inches (205mm) in length. The total weight is 312.6g/11.03oz/10.05ozt. The dessert forks measure 6 3/4" inches (170mm) in length. The total weight is 173.0g/6.10oz/5.56ozt.

A very good, heavy gauge, Antique, Early Victorian, Scottish Silver Soup Ladle made by David McDonald, Glasgow and dating from 1846. It is hallmarked with the maker's mark "DMcD", for David McDonald, the Glagow town mark, the Scottish Lion Rampant silver mark, the date letter "B" for 1846/47 and the Monarch's Head (Queen Victoria) duty mark. Scottish Silver Bowl, J McKay Edinburgh 1844
A very good quality, large, Sterling Silver Scottish Quaich made by George Edward & Sons, Glasgow. This Quaich was manufactured by Edward & Sons as a replica of a 17th century Glasgow Quaich. It has engraved decoration in the 17th century manner. The Quaich was assayed in London, it is hallmarked with the maker's mark "GE/AE" for George Edward & Sons (George Edward & Arthur Edward, Glasgow), the Lion Passant Sterling Silver mark, the Leopard's Head London town mark and date letter "h" for 1923/24. Also stamped on the base with the maker's name "Edward & Sons, Glasgow". Also stamped on the base "Replica of Glasgow Quaich 1665-1670". The Quaich measures 7 1/4" inches (185mm) in diameter (across the bowl) and measures 11 3/4" inches (300mm) in width across the lugs. It stands 3" inches (75mm) in height. The weight is 510g/18.0oz It is in excellent condition with very minimal light scratches in the bowl and a slight indent to the foot of the base rim.
