A very good, antique Victorian Scottish University Athletics Medal dating from c1892. The medal engraved "Edinburgh University Athletic Club". It was awarded for "Fresh Men, 220 Yards" and was won by "R Hutchison 1892". Although the medal, in my opinion appears to be silver, it is not hallmarked, therefore selling as white metal. The circular medal measures approximately 34mm in diameter. The weight is 18.5g It is in excellent condition.

Edinburgh University Athletic Club Medal c1892
A very good Silver Agricultural Medal dating from c1939. The medal was by "The Fife Agricultural Society". This medal was "Won by Miss Anne Drysdale, Kilrie" in the "Childrens Riding Class, 1939". The medal is hallmarked with the maker's mark "GA&S", the Lion Passant sterling silver mark, the Birmingham town mark and date letter "O" for 1938/39. The recipient of the is Miss Anne Drysdale. The Drysdale family farmed at Kilrie, Kirkcaldy on the east coast of Scotland. The medal most likely awarded at the Fife Show. The circular medal measures approximately 1 3/4" inches (45mm) in diameter. The weight is 39.4g. It is in excellent condition.

Fife Agricultural Society Silver Medal c1939
A very good and rare, antique Victorian Scottish Silver Agricultural Medal dating from c1865. The medal was awarded at "John Swan & Sons Christmas Show, Edinburgh 1865". This medal awarded "For the Best Cross Ox" to "Wm. Drysdale, Kilrie". The medal is hallmarked with the Monarch's Head duty mark (Queen Victoria) the maker's mark "G&MC" for George & Michael Crichton of Edinburgh and the Scottish "thistle" sterling silver mark. There is no date letter, however the maker's mark is recorded as being in use c1865 to 1875, consistent with the date on the medal, 1865. The recipient of the medal William Drysdale farmed at Kilrie, Kirkcaldy on the east coast of Scotland. John Swan & Sons, livestock auctioneers, founded in 1856, operating out of a mart in the Berwickshire town of Earlston. During the late 1800s and early 1900s the firm operated marts in East Lothian, Fife, Perth and Edinburgh. The Edinburgh site closed in 2001. The circular medal measures approximately 2" inches (50mm) in diameter (excluding the suspension loop). The weight is 36.2g It is in excellent condition.
